3 out of 5 stars It's leaking after 18 months   May 10, 2010
Susan L. Kocher (Raleigh, NC USA)
I installed this faucet not two years ago. It is pretty, but it is is leaking from the main body, at the ring below the handle. I can't figure out how to get it off so that I can replace the O rings, assuming that's the problem. I got the handle off, but then what? The nut under the sink is positioned so that I can't even get one turn with my socket wrench. Aargh! Anyway according to one site, I should be able to pull the assembly up and out--but it's not coming out.

No info on the Kohler site.

I hate to call a plumber and pay the cost of the danged thing just to stop a leak.

5 out of 5 stars Great faucet, even better customer service   April 27, 2010
T. E. Rumbaugh (Irvine, CA USA)
I admit first off that I didn't buy this faucet from Amazon.com. However, I wanted to leave my review to share my Kohler customer service experience. We have the polished nickel model and love it. Great look, great performance. About a year and a half into owning it it started leaking from under the handle down the sides of the faucet. By the time I did something about it a couple of months later it had increased to the point that it was enough water that it dripped down into the sink nearly every time we turned it on. I checked our manual and saw a lifetime warranty for leaks. Well, Kohler lives up to that warranty. I called the 800 number on the manual and spoke to an EXTREMELY friendly customer service rep. She was quite apologetic about the leak, asked a few questions, and knew exactly what the problem was. Within less than three minutes of calling she had placed the order for the replacement parts, obtained my shipping info, and confirmed that they would ship the next day (which they did). I received an email confirmation of the shipment and they arrived within five days. The instructions took a little studying but were very easy to follow. Taking the faucet apart and replacing the parts wasn't as easy as the phone call, but almost. I will buy Kohler from here on out just because of this experience.

2 out of 5 stars Installation more difficult than it needs to be   March 8, 2010

My husband installed this faucet and encountered two problems with the installation (both mentioned in other reviews). First, the hot and cold water hoses are somewhat short, in our case quite a bit too short. Normally this would be a small problem easily solved by a trip to the nearest hardware store for longer hoses. The problem with this faucet is that the connection of the hose to the faucet is not the standard size so simply replacing the hose doesn't work. My husband solved this by getting an additional short standard hose and a 1/2"X3/8" nipple to connect between the supplied hose and the water supply. The second problem is that the instructions tell you to attach the sprayer hose to the faucet AFTER the faucet is mounted on the sink. If the sprayer hose fitting had a standard type of connection where a wrench could be used this might have worked. It does not however, apparently being designed to tighten either by hand or with a pair of pliers. In our case there was not enough room for a pair of pliers and it could not be adequately tightened with fingers. The result was lots of water under the sink as soon as the faucet was turned on. The solution was to dismount the faucet, lift it up, push the sprayer hose up through the hole and make the connection in the open where the pliers could be used. This is what the instructions should have said to do.

A final problem is with the temperature control. There is a limited range of motion when turning the handle to set the temperature. There is a method of adjusting the one end of this range but not both. The result is a temperature range which varies from cold to fairly warm, or from luke warm to hot. It can not be adjusted to vary from cold to hot. Perhaps this feature is useful if there are children in the household, but in my case I prefer to get only hot water when the faucet is turned to hot and only cold water when it is turned to cold.

On the plus side, it is an attractive faucet (hence the second star).

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful faucet-Great price   February 27, 2010

This Kohler faucet was so easy to install. It looks great. You would think it was a much higher end product. It's got a nice weight to it. Not cheapy. We've always bought Moen but, so far, we are totally sold on Kohler.
