Amazon.com Product Description
InSinkErator Evolution Series Disposers
Evolution Series Disposers feature patented MultiGrind and SoundSeal technologies, which means they grind more with less noise. The Evolution Compact Food Waste Disposer is the ideal choice for small households or restricted cabinet space. With its compact design features, Evolution Compact features MultiGrind technology, to grind everything from artichokes to rib bones, and SoundSeal technology, to cut noise levels by at least 30% over standard disposers.

Evolution Technology: Grind More, Hear Less
For the past eight decades, InSinkErator has built more than 100 million food waste disposers. Now the company has put everything it has learned into a line of disposers that sets dramatic new standards for performance. Evolution Series& disposers feature innovative technologies--MultiGrind and SoundSeal--that address users' two most common requests: improved grinding ability and reduced noise.

Liquify Waste with MultiGrind Technology
With the Compact's MultiGrind feature, you can efficiently grind difficult food items, such as bones. This two-stage technology uses a GrindShear Ring that enables you to grind food waste significantly better than you could in any previous disposer.

With the Evolution Compact, celery, potato peels, artichokes, rib bones, and more are virtually liquefied to safely flow into your sewage system. You'll enjoy a cleaner food preparation area and less bagged garbage cluttering your home.

30% Less Noise with SoundSeal Technology
SoundSeal Technology utilizes an Anti-Vibration Mount, an Anti-Vibration Tailpipe Mount, and Quiet Collar Sink Baffle, so you can hold a conversation with elevated voices while the disposer is running. This technology also includes SoundLimiter insulation to reduce noise levels by at least 30% compared to standard disposers.

Which Evolution Series Food Waste Disposer is Right for You?
You can choose between five Evolution Series models, all featuring the patented MultiGrind and SoundSeal technologies. Each disposer is specifically made with a particular consumer in mind.

'Evolutionary' Disposer is Easy to Install
Designed with a 3/4-horsepower Dura-Drive Induction Motor, the EvolutionCompact is truly 'evolutionary'--giving you the horsepower you need to grindmore types of food waste than standard disposers.

The Evolution Compact food waste disposer is constructed with a stainless steelQuick Lock sink mount for easy installation. All InSinkErator food waste disposers are built with this feature, making replacement of older units a breeze--simply disconnect and replace your old disposer using the same sink mount.

Environmentally Friendly, Wallet-Friendly Choice
The Evolution Compact food waste disposer is a practical and environmentally responsible way to help reduce the 31 million tons of solid waste generated from food scraps in the U.S. each year.

Instead of throwing this food waste away, grinding it with the Evolution Compact sends it to your local municipal wastewater treatment plant, where it can be recycled to produce methane, a renewable source of power for the plant. Additionally, wastewater treatment plants can process food waste into biosolids to be used as fertilizer (check the plant in your area).

Food waste disposers average less than 50 cents a year in electricity to operate and account for less than one percent of a household's total water consumption. In fact, the Evolution Compact features an average water usage of one gallon per person per day and an average electrical usage of three to four kilowatt hours per year, making it among the least expensive installed kitchen appliances.

We Come To You Parts and Labor Warranty
The Evolution Compact is backed by an exclusive four-year We Come to You In-Home Service Warranty. This warranty from InSinkErator includes free house calls (including parts and labor) for the entire warranty period.

5 out of 5 stars Quiet, easy to install, looks to be a nice unit   February 24, 2010
E39 nutz (Lake county, IL)
My old ISE with 1/3 hp started leaking after 12 years, I decided to replace it with this fancy unit. It claimed to be quiet, has more hp (which I don't really care as I don't dump everything down the sink and grind them up). The installation was pretty straight forward, almost a direct replacement. If I didn't have to replace the sink drain flange, it would have taken me less than 15 minutes.

Pros: quiet operation (provided that you use the supplied rubber baffle), relatively compact design, baffle can be taken out to clean without removing the ISE from the sink
Cons: none so far, only time will tell.

5 out of 5 stars Not handy but installed it myself - notes and a video!   February 19, 2010
Jobba (San Francisco)
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2884EBD44HV8X First off, I was replacing an old insinkerator that stopped working daily. Even my trusty wrench Mintcraft Garbage Disposal Wrench T164, after a year+ of saving me, became a challenge to use.

So, most of my installation problems were a result of the old beast that I had to remove. Plates on the bottom were rusted shut, and the seals on the pipes were worn, and one even snapped. But despite that, i was able to reuse the plates and wires that needed reusing (without buying an additional kit.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Remember which wire connects to which before removing the old one. Mine were all the same grey color from the plug (contrary to the instructions), so I didn't know which was hot. After searching online for a while, I found that the NEUTRAL WIRE IS RIBBED. Saved me!

Anyway, I used the existing sink connection (very easy), but had to but new pipes to replace the old ones so the seals were good. After removing the old ones leaked.

Now it works great. About 90 minutes of work (including 20-30 being flummoxed by the hot/neutral wire), and the disposal works fantastic.

See video for it in action, including sound etc. Hopefully the video is helpful? Let me know.

Initially I gave this 4 stars, but realized that was only due to problems with the previous unit and components (plugs, wires) - this unit itself deserved 5!

4 out of 5 stars Great but not that quite as expected   February 18, 2010
Raymondo (Phoenix, AZ USA)
Just installed today. Replacing old badger 5 which lasted many years. A great smooth operating product but to be honest, not as quite as I expected, especially for the money. A very well made unit that I'm sure will live up to its claims

3 out of 5 stars ISE 3/4 hp Evolution Compact   February 9, 2010
Mark (Michigan, USA)
My old ISE 1/2 hp Evergrind E202 (Insinkerator) from Costco bit the bucket after 8 years. I looked all over the internet to read reviews and to check other models out first before buying this one. The Evergrind model at Costco is 3/4 hp but has galvanized parts. The Kenmore 3/4 hp is ditto. Both were $15 cheaper but I needed something that was going to last. My instincts told me to stick with ISE because some disposers were either to cheap to believe or did not have the features of this model.

Ok I want to make something very clear. Whoever says this garbage disposal is quiet is joking. This unit is almost as loud as the Evergrind E202 it replaced. And that unit had no quieting insulation on it. I will be calling ISE in a few days to to see if i can fix this. If I would have known it was not "near silent" or "sounds like it's barely running" as some have said I may have gone to another brand. Below is a list of pro's and cons that I have found using the unit.

Pros:
1. Unit is compact and lighter than most other disposers.
2. Stainless steel parts ensure no corrosion.
3. Slightly quieter than the lower end Badger/Evergrind models.
4. More power 3/4 hp vs 1/2 hp on lower end models.
5. Stylish looking/modern (if you could say that about a disposer)
6. Relatively easy install.
7. Electric cord and wire nuts swapped over to new disposer.
8. Running water and grinding soft items makes it quieter.
9. Multicut technology quickly cuts through waste.
10. In home repair for four years.

Cons:
1. More noisy if you don't have the stoppers in place or not grinding something when operating.
2. A plumbing nightmare if you need to redo any pipes. I starred at the PVC section at Home Depot for an hour trying to decide what PVC elbows and traps I needed. You need plumbers putty (.99 cents)
3. Vibration felt on sink when running.
4. Flimsy rubber adapter for outlet to drain. I mean come on. Could we make the rubber a bit more thick?
5. Warranty not as long as cheaper Kenmore unit with glavanized parts. How is this possible?

One other thing. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly before and while installing it. The unit vibrated something horrible after first installing it. Come to find out that the locking ring was not detented and not over far enough. The noise diminished by half after fixing that. that gave me some bit of relief. I believe this unit should hold up for years compared to the galvanized E202 I had before. We will see.
