Does what it's supposed to February 24, 2010 David Bland (Teaneck, NJ USA) It does what it's supposed to do. It's a simple wire mesh with small holes so it catches even small hairs. I don't find it hard to clean at all, just rub your finger over the mesh and it picks up whatever it caught. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that it does not screw in, it just sits in the drain, but this is a minor point (and some people may like this because it makes it a bit easier to clean since you can pick it up)
ehh... February 10, 2010 L. Coiner (Newport, RI) Not great, a little small for my drain. I'll still keep it and use it, but I wish I would have ordered a different type!
very effective January 25, 2010 jodimcjodi (Seattle, WA) We have very old pipes that clog easily and are very expensive to clean. The previous drain cover we had was the plastic type that sits on top of the tub stopper, but all that one did was float around the tub as the water level rose during my shower.
This stays put and catches *everything*. Yes, it requires regular cleaning, but that means that all that stuff didn't go down your drain (a tissue or piece of toilet paper each morning after showering is all it needs).
cleanning is a hassle November 5, 2009 D. Kale 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The mesh blocks everything very quickly. However, the holes are small and the size of the strainer is not large either, so it has to be cleaned very frequently and thoroughly which is not really great.
Love it September 3, 2009 Hilary L. Thomas (Washington, D.C.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have long, thick hair. Pulling it off of my comb each time I shower and setting it aside to throw away was helping my drain stay clear, but I know some hair gets through. I bought this to help catch what I don't put to the side.
It fits into my bathtub drain just fine. Mesh is very small to catch everything, and it did. I will probably have to clean the thing out after every shower, but that's okay. If any soap gets caught up a quick rinse under hot water and a bit of rubbing at the mesh with thumb and forefinger clean it off. If it starts to build up a soap scum I spray it with Tilex and hit with an old toothbrush. Ta da.
It's a good, cheap and preventative measure that means less snaking the pipes and less standing water in the tub.
